Default Mucking in Home Games

I'd love to know what everyone's opinion is on mucking in home games. Whenever I try to muck, or a couple of my friends do it, everyone gets agitated. A lot of four-letter expletives followed by the word "you" are thrown. A lot of people hate it when you muck. But I think it adds another element to the game. It might confuse someone after a big bet, and people might say, "Well, was he bluffing, or did he have it?" I muck when I can because I think it's important if you're going to be successful.

What are all of your thoughts?

we always muck. It's pretty rare people show. Who are these aholes you play with? There's a really easy response: "You want to see what I had? Just call!"

Oh, you mean mucking at showdown? Find a differnt game if everyone things you should show every hand.

To muck = To fold, thus you can muck at any point which is why I was initially confused.

yeah get new people to play with or, as is more likely you, your friends, or both have just started playing and aren't used to the etiquette of poker yet. you did the right thing and i suggest that you continue to do so.

If they don't like mucking, what do they think of check-raises?

Haha, check-raising. One of my friends went off on me when I check-riased him the other day. But almost no one ever does it in our home games.

hehe.. there are three rules in my game. you have to pay to see, check/raise is always allowed and most important - NEVER LOAN MONEY TO A GUY WHO'S BUSTED OUT! As far as mucking, you are doing the right thing. It's part of YOUR game, you have to establish the type of player you are. Good Luck!

I extend interest free house credit to any player in my game who is considered a regular.

Obviously, no house credit to anyone I don't know.
