Sessions by Day
In Poker Tracker, I now have 6600 hands of 2/4 and 4400 hands of 1/2. While looking through the data, trying to find leaks, I noticed something interesting. At both limits, I show a lose on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, all other days there is profit. Overall I am just about even for this sample of hands. I am a long term winner, as recorded by my StatKing database.
I suspect that the games are looser on Friday and Saturday nights, but Sunday? I wonder if this is just a short term variance issue or if there is some real information here to help me plug a leak. Has anyone noticed consitent profit/loss by week day vs. week end? I realise that my sample size is small, but it is interesting nevertheless. BTW, I've lurked here for awhile, just havent posted.... never too late to start. |

Re: Sessions by Day
Fri / Sat / Sun are the best days on all sites. What you're looking at is pure variance. Pure and simple. Do not look for meaning in small sample sizes, there is none.

Re: Sessions by Day
What you can do with this sort of information is take a look at your play with a new eye towards the sort of things that differentiate weekday games from weekend games (i.e. weekend games are usually looser and can be more aggressive/passive depending on what limit you're playing, etc). So look into your play asking the sort of questions like "Am I making the right adjustments to my game based on the different game conditions, etc"
That being said you could just be looking at a variance hiccup and not doing anything "wrong"...it never hurts to examine your play to double check, but don't overanalyze things either. J |

J [/ QUOTE ] I've been trying to increase my VP$IP in these looser weekend types of games. I've always naturally played a very tight/aggessive game and am likely leaving money on the table by mucking some cards that I probably should be seeing flops with. I have been rereading SSH lately and was surprised at much tighter my starting standards are compared to the "tight" game chart in Ed's book. Instictively I want to throw away cards like small suited broadway from UTG fearing a raise and danger of domination. But I guess in some of the more passive games these cards can be profitable from any position if you can see the flop cheap and hit it. But anyway I think that I have always struggled more with the loosest of games. I played for a couple of years at Ultimate Bet and have only recently moved to Party skins and these games seem to definately be looser..... back to the books. I want to see green for every day of the week |

I have been rereading SSH lately [/ QUOTE ] Then you should be well on your way. Just remember you have to make adjustments post-flop as well in the loose games, especially when the pot is large. (and in most cases the post-flop adjustments are more important overall) GL, J |
