Legal poker in TX
I'm not questioning your motivation for playing in freerolls and i didn't mean to come off as glib. They certainly can be fun. However, a freeroll is not the best place for honing poker skills, unless everyone's taking it seriously. In fact, many plays that'd work there would be awful in "real" tournaments...and vice versa.
Anyway, it is actually legal to have money poker games in Texas. However, there are several restrictions such as you can't have a rake or cover charge, be at a place that sells alcohol, it can't be at a public location, etc... If you're interested, here's an article in the Houston Press on the topic. |
