Default #SStakes - The SS IRC Channel

In an attempt to clean up the forums, jason_t and I thought it would be a good idea to start a SS IRC channel. We're hoping people will discuss easier and more SOP hands in there, giving better threads more room to breath in the forum. For those that know what IRC is, the channel is #sstakes on EFnet. For those that do not...

1. You'll need to download IRC client. For this tutorial, I'm using HydraIRC because It's free and simple.

2. After installing and running HydraIRC, a prompt will come up, saying "You have no configured identities, would you like to create one now?" Click Yes.

This is all you really need to enter. Hit OK, and OK again to close the preferences window.

3. Click the connect button.

4. Enter the URI, "irc://irc.efnet.net"

5. Wait. When the channel list dialog pops up, you can close it. You should have a window open titled, "EFnet (irc.efnet.net) - [your username] - Connected." Enter, "/join #sstakes" and you're set. If you see the following, you're set.

You'll also need to sign up at PokerHand to discuss hands. If you have a hand you want to discuss, submit it in PokerHand, and copy and paste the URL of your hand into the channel. Discussion starts from there.

You can PM either me or Jason if you have any questions. Also, there is a general 2p2 channel, #twoplustwo, as well as a HUSH channel: #hu&sh. Both are on EFnet. I hope to see everyone there.

Whoever uses firefox, you can get ChatZilla from the extensions page. I like it a lot.

Did you download Hydra IRC? You may just be having a problem connecting to this EFnet server, but there are many others you can connect to under the EFNet list header that will still get you into the room.

That's odd, are you behind a strict firewall?
