Default WSOP Method of Payment???

My pre-planning for this trip wasn't too good. I missed the PokerStars and online reg deadline. I then didn't get to my bank in time to cash a check today. Do they take anything other than cash? Credit cards, checks, debit cards?

Oh boy.... Well, the good news is, they don't accept cash either. They only take "tourney chips". So.... can you buy chips at the cage with a credit card? I've never tried. They run satelites here which only pay in tourney chips, so you could write a check to a friend who has won tourney chips.... I think you might be S.O.L. though, I think I remember cash or certified check being required.

Well if anybody is there with tourney chips they want to sell let me know. If you're a *regular* poster I can transfer the funds tonight via Neteller, Party, or PokerStars. I just need to make sure I get them in time to register for tomorrow's event.

They do accept cash to register for tournaments. Don't know exactly what you're talking about, but you can use cash in the cage to register for any tournament.

Oh, thought it was like the circuit event in N.O. - there you had to buy special "tourney buy-in" chips at the cage, and then walk those over to the registration desk. I did the pre-register thing with the WSOP to avoid that hassle. Guess they do it better here.

You CANNOT use credit cards, debit cards, or cheques to register for WSOP events. At the cage in the poker room they accept only cash, WSOP tournament chips (i.e. "lammers"), and Rio casino chips.

For traveller's cheques, I think you would have to go to the Rio main cage (in the casino) to cash them, then take the cash to the cage in the poker room. Not entirely sure about that however.

I called the Rio today from my bank (bank didn't have enough cash on hand!) and they said a cashiers check to the rio was fine, but would take about a half hour for them to verify it. Im playing the 3k limit event on sunday, so it was only 5k i eas taking out, I was surprised they didn't have that.
