Re: KK fold pre-flop
[ QUOTE ]
PartyPoker $20+2 Blinds 15/30 Full table KK in the BB, folded to MP (~t800) who min raises. Button (~t1000) calls. Hero (~t1000) reraises to t180. MP calls, button reraises to t300. Hero folds. Flame away. EDIT: Button has done nothing that would lead me to believe he is crazy. [/ QUOTE ] i have to assume you're aware of this, but some people on online poker just hit the raise button. without making any conscious decision to minraise. unless you have some stone cold read -- in fact, unless you have a read which you are unable to get from online poker, without playing with someone a very large number of times, someone who doesn't change their betting patterns -- this is a really bad fold. |

Re: KK fold pre-flop
I was just pointing out the kind of garbage people will go all-in with early. Also, that hand was a $10+1, so it may be less applicable.

[/ QUOTE ] You would do well to read the hand instead of acting like a robot like everyone is around here sometimes. Nobody in his hand went all in. That's what makes it scary. FWIW, I'm not laying this down, especially at a $22. But I cannot fault anyone for doing so given the action. |

But I cannot fault anyone for doing so given the action. [/ QUOTE ] I can. You're ahead of QQ/JJ here so often it's not even funny. AA, maybe. But you just have to suck out better than. |

Guys, just because bad players make bad plays doesn't mean that you can't try and put them on a hand. You should try and put them on a hand. They aren't betting randomly. |

[/ QUOTE ] I doubt that many players, especially since the OP said he hadn't done anything weird yet, would take this line with JJ. I also think that AA is more likely than QQ. AK is a possibility too. |

Re: KK fold pre-flop
I guess the responses thus far are more or less what I was expecting. Hopefully I can elaborate: I know there are alot of "should I fold AA preflop?", "should I fold KK preflop?" bad beat-type posts around here, but I was hoping this hand would be a little different and would spark some debate on the topic.
To me, button's min re-reraise screams AA. I think many players at the $22s are pushing a wide range of hands in this situation: AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AK, AQ, and AJ, even. Clearly, folding is a huge mistake here. However, the button's min-re-reraise, especially after just calling the initial raise hints strongly that he's trying to be a tricky bastard and is slowplaying a monster. I think more often than not, Villain has AA here. Folding leaves me with ~t800 which is definitely workable. It's very possible I'm way off base... |
