No Pink Floyd??

Also Metallica and Rage Against The Machine is far to low on the list.

Does this list really surprise anyone. It is pretty much exactly what I would expect a bunch of rock critics to pick, which does not mean that many of the albums are not masterpieces.

I have huge issues with the ordering as I am sure do most here. I bet each of us who listen to a lot of music can name a dozen albums on the list that we personally think are overrated and another dozen or so underrated ones that didn't make the cut. On the one hand this makes arguing these things a pointless waste of time. On the other hand I am always interested to hear what other people like and don't like as I often learn something new and hear about great music that had fallen under my personal radar screen.

Good points.

This is a good list. I wonder if the people yelling "this list sucks" realize that they're just saying that it doesn't represent their specific taste. I thought it did a good job of managing a lot of different genres, and balancing mainstream and obscure bands as well.

A few problems I had with it:

Not having any Tool on there is an unforgivable mistake. Same deal with RHCP. Just doesn't make sense.

Lauren Hill's album should be higher up in my opinion.

Notorious BIG's Life After Death deserved a spot, although there are some weak links in it and Ready to Die, a better album, is already listed, so I can understand why they wouldn't give him two spots.

Tupac deserves a spot.

I would have liked to see the Flaming Lips on there.

The Marshall Mathers LP deserves to be higher.

Kanye West is far too high up.

Also, I think the Offspring- Smash should have clocked in somewhere in the 80's or 90's.

That's all I can think of for now.

Not including:

NIN - Pretty Hate Machine
The Cult - Sonic Temple
Black Crowes - Shake Your Moneymaker

is pretty ridiculous and unforgivable. Also, where is Metallica - And Just For All, and U2 - The Joshua Tree? Obviously, MOP is Metallica's best album, but AJ4A is the album that burst metal into the mainstream.

I would have added STP - Core and 311 - Music, to the the list as well. I would put Bush on this list before any Live ablum too.

this list is just like every other top 100 list magazines or tv shows put out. It sucks

agreed. lists like this are incredibly stupid as a person's taste in music varies vastly from person to person.

i can tell you i would probably hate listening to most of these albums.

no Sublime or RHCP either. gimme a break.

[/ QUOTE ]

I was all set to get mad and call you names, but I agree with the gist of this post. Tupac really never put together one masterpiece album. Almost all of them had a couple of great songs mixed in with a lot of lower quality filler. 75% is too high, but it seems like every album of his has a lot of weaknesses, so I wouldn't know which one to nominate.

I think Kanye West's head just grew some.

I am by no means a Tupac fan, but Me Against the World is a great album.
