Just wondering if u are getting rake back and the rake isnt at its max by the river would it be +EV to try and cap the pot so u get more money back in rake. I know this would probably depend on the limit ur playing.

[/ QUOTE ]

Um. Right. ... You've got to let me know where you get this 100+% rakeback.

OK- everyone is likely checking and the pot isn't that big, right? In my casino,(small stakes) there's $3 into the rake to start, and another $1 on the turn/river. Doesn't the house wind up the real winner for a raise like this?

i wouldnt' consider it bad ethics, just dumb

[/ QUOTE ]

If the rake is already maxed, not betting/raising is dumb. I have had several occassions where someone folds to a striaght board with no flush possible because "they can't beat the board". Obviously this happens most in low limits, but I've seen it occassionally in mid-limits where there is a bet, a raise and the third guy folds. At this point calling is right as there is no point raising someone that realizes the board is the nuts.

Depends if you ask me...

NL sure i'd try to drive someone out who's not paying attention....

Limit... I'd only raise once

otherwise you're just feeding the rake...

I for one have seen a person fold this in a sitngo. I would not do this at all in a cash game though.

No.1: There is a max rake. If it is already reached then raise away.

No 2: How could this be 'unethical'? They really should know the nuts are on board. The discussions here are mostly 'when is it correct to raise' and not 'can you'.

I once was in a situation where i had A5 on a board of 52222
I bet the river, got 2 callers and then the fourth player in raised. I know I have the nuts here but I expect every one else to know what the nuts are as well and I assume they must be calling with it, all four of us with an ace. But you know what, sometimes people are silly and you gotta maximize your pot. Turned out one guy thought his pocket sixes could still hold up. heehee

Not unethical, just stupid if you are pumping the rake.

It really is fun to see that happen. Usually it's followed by a big gasp from the people not in the hand. It can be tough for them to contain themselves when they see it also.
