I really don't see why it's so frowned upon not to tip. They take rake up the ass, and the casinos make a crapload anyways, so why can't they pay their employees more. As for the dealers, they deal cards. It's not a difficult job. Do you see people tipping construction workers paving our roads in 110 degree heat?

That said, I still tip, and I'm cheaper than most. I don't usually tip if I win a pot and it doesn't get to the river. I'll tip $1 after almost every pot I win, and occasionally if it is like 75 I will tip $2. Sometimes, if it's a small pot and it even reaches the river, say like a $15-20 pot, I won't tip either. To those people who scowl when I win a decent sized pot and tip only a dollar..blow it up your ass.

[/ QUOTE ]

Aside from the dealers themselves, no one gives a rats ass what you do. Just dont come on here asking for a pat on the fanny and a, "That's okay Willie, you dont have to tippy wippy."

Are you a teller?? Do you expect tips when somebody comes in and makes a transaction?!

Do you tip the tellers when you make a transaction? "Geez Mr. Teller, you were really fast cashing my check.. Here's a $5 tip for being so good!!"

My point is,, outside of waitress/waiters (of which I tip good when I feel they do a good job).. Tipping is fecking STUPID!

[/ QUOTE ]

Stick with online poker n00b.

You will save yourself much public ridicule.

Actually, I was just adding my input to this post like you. And people do care what you do, which is why they bad mouth you at the table because you tip 1 dollar, and go "I tip at least 3 in a pot like that" and then go on to demeaner you. Hey, I'm not a wealthy guy, I play cards to make money. At no point in that post was I asking for a pat on the fanny.

One time I was playing in a casino in where many wealthy suburban millionaires played with a couple who were being complete A-Holes to me because I was winning, and not tipping a huge amount, but I was even going out of my way to tip a little more for them. I won a 45 dollar pot, gave a dollar to the dealer as I normally do, and she kind of looks at me and gives me an obvious scowl. So I took my dollar back and left the table and went to a more friendly table.

In addition, when I first started playing live, I really had no idea you had to tip or it was expected. The first time I played live I wondered why alot of the guys at the table would give me devious shakes of the head when I would win pots. It wasn't because I beat them, it was because they disaproved of me not tipping. One of these players actually would play back at me in spite of this and said "that was for not tipping". From there I learned that I was supposed to tip, and by no way did I mean it to cause a problem I just didn't know. These are both cases where OTHER players DO care what you do.

Default Final answer...

Average pot = $1.

Enormous pot = $1.

Blind steal = $1.

I know exactly what I am talking about. I am sure you fit the profile to a T.

Twenty something, new to the game, small bankroll, play 2-4 or 3-6 or some other joke game while wearing sunglasses and an ipod and struggling with the fact that you are a fish but think you are the next poker great.

Its real simple. If your bankroll can't afford a dollar a pot, then you are not a winning player but just a donator.

It must be tough though to feel compelled to offer the dealer a tip when you cough up your dough to all the players.

Keep grinding n00b.

It's sad that folks will "look someone up" on the river knowing they'll lose yet won't toke a dealer...

No, because those jackasses are already ripping us off via fat government contracts and they still take four years to pave one mile of road.
