extracting the most from 2 pair out of position heads up
Ok so I was going over some hands to see if it was possible to gain more bets by playing differently and I came across this one. I don't have any specific reads. Does betting into villain on the flop have any merit? How about betting into him on the turn? Checkraising the river? It just seems that there is more to be won on hands like these, where villian cautiously checks the turn with position.

Don't know what you have, and I don't think there are 6 players seeing the flop, turn....
Assuming you have A8 or A5 I think you can check raise the flop and he will 3 bet with AK or AQ. Then you are able to check raise the turn.If he doesn't 3 bet you can just bet the turn. That's how I like to play it. Phy1234 |

Re: extracting the most from 2 pair out of position heads up
With that flop, there are no draws. So, if your opponent missed the flop, you should check, hoping for him to catch up, while if your opponent hit the flop, you should bet, hoping to get raised.
Since your opponent three bet the flop, your best hope is that your opponent raised with a big ace and will raise you on the flop, if you bet. A common pattern with this sort of hand is for you to bet the flop and just call a raise, then check-raise the turn and bet out on the river. If just called on the flop, your opponent might have a weak hand that will fold to a bet on the turn and you may make more money by waiting until the river to fire another bet. Of course, the way the hand played out, it seems quite plausible that your opponent had a pocket pair, perhaps jacks or queens. This hand might call you down the entire way if you bet out and you cost yourself a bet on the turn. |

[/ QUOTE ] This is a good summary. So if we think he's got an Ace we bet, as well as if we think he's a calling station with mid pocket pairs. Otherwise it's better to check so he catches up. |
