added a second monitor...cant extend desktop
i added a second monitor but the option to 'extend desktop' has never shown up anywhere. does this mean i cant for some reason or is there something else i can do?

Is this a laptop or desktop?
What OS are you using? Is vid card installed properly and drivers etc also loaded? |

there is probably a function key + number combination that you need to press to toggle the video output

not enough info. not nearly enough. what is the monitor doing? is it mirroring the laptop's display? what have you checked? have you RTFM? what kind of laptop? what does "display" say? etc...etc...etc...
can't help if we can't see mang. edit: first stop, hit up your laptop manufacturer website and check to see that it's even capable of doing dual displays. Anything past 2001 usually can. "good" home laptops can usually do it after 1998. if you still have any form of tech support, ask them... even an email after the war. has expired will sometimes produce results. |

alright, ill give that a try tomorrow. it should be new enough, its a dell inspiron 4150. i cna have 2 displays but its the same screen. everyone says there should be a button that says extend desktop but i dont see it and ive searched everywhere.

right click on desktop -> properties
click on the settings tab at the top you should see two blue boxes. click on #2 and now a checkbox should appear at the bottom to extend desktop |
