Re: Buying new computer--what do I need for my desired setup?
You're going to buy a $200 desktop to run two $500 LCD's?
Well, to each his own I guess. I still say that a sale is not good just because it's a sale. I'm pretty sure most people would be disappointed in the performance of a $200 computer. Having a faster hard disk and a good amount of memory, especially, is a big help to people who use pokertracker. You can use almost any video card and need only a mediocre CPU to run poker sites, true, but there are definitely ways to get value from having a computer that isn't terrible, especially if you're using pokertracker. |

Re: Buying new computer--what do I need for my desired setup?
For adding several monitors you should maybe lookout for a matrox graphics card. They have cards that support 4 monitors nativly. Not long ago they were the best for office applications, programming and that kind of stuff, which is exactly what you need (2D application, big resolutions with high refresh rates and multi-monitor setup).

Re: Buying new computer--what do I need for my desired setup?
Okay, what do you think of my plan at this point?
Go to local electronic stores and price comps. Tell them what I want with the video card, multiple monitors and pixel capability. Price the systems that can handle such a thing. What amount of money is too much for a system? If someone tells me $800, is that too much? |
