Re: Set of 8\'s .
I don't understand the question. You got the money in on the flop when you have a set. Why shouldn't anyone like that line?

Re: Set of 8\'s .
This has to be a $5sng. Everything is fine, everything got all in on the flop.

it was fine. not a terribly interesting hand though. [/ QUOTE ] On the contrary, I think it's a terribly interesting hand for two reasons: 1. The flop is connected with overcards 2. Its still early...Level 1 or 2 I recall. Another poster said he didnt understand the point of my question. The whole point is this: Do I want to play for all my chips with this hand, on this flop, at this stage of the tourney? Thanks, Jonathan |

Re: Set of 8\'s .
You have a set. There is 3 possible hands that you lose to and only 2 that you're drawing to 1 out against.
Push it all in. Stop worrying about the levels. Levels only matter if you had a decent hand but not the greatest (i.e, AQ, Q8s, maybe QT) |

Levels only matter if you had a decent hand but not the greatest (i.e, AQ, Q8s, maybe QT) [/ QUOTE ] The reason I am very sensitive to this is that there were several posts recently from winning players posting their statistics. A number of them had a combined 9th and 10th place finishes of < 5%. I can't for the life of me figure out how they do it. Here, for example, I flopped a set, my opponent flopped a straight and I was out in 10th. While posting this reply, I was playing a hand. I put in a big raise from late position prelop with JJ and get two callers. The flop comes J T X rainbow. First player checks, second is allin, I call allin. Turn X, River K for the straight and again I am out in 10th place. Now mabey I am just running bad, and over time my 9th and 10th place finishes will settle down around 5% too. But I don't see it.
