Is my VPIP% too high?
So, after approx. 15,000 hands, my VPIP% is around 21.5%. Is the general consensus that this is too far into the semi-loose range?
I am following the loose table starting hands from SSHE, unless short-handed or if the table is particulary tight. Any thoughts? |

Re: Is my VPIP% too high?
I think 21.5% is a fine number. I'd say 20-23% is about right for a small stakes player. This number is going to be game dependent, though after 15K hands you'd like to think it's pretty well settled. If you tend to seek out loose passive games, which is the right thing to do, you'll lean toward the higher number.

Re: Is my VPIP% too high?
Thanks for the response.
I'd always assumed my vpip was OK because I was following the SSHE starting hands fairly religiously, but I've been seeing posts from people with much lower percentages. I decided when I started to play by the book unless I knew exactly why I was choosing a different line. After 15k hands, I'm starting to see where I might deviate from them in certain situations. |

Re: Is my VPIP% too high?
Glad to help. Don't loosen up too much, rememember we make money by playing "better" than those we're playing against. The easiest way to play better is to play tighter. On a loose table, we can play looser, but not so loose as to be fishy.
Good luck, T |
