Default bet or check this river overcard?

How would you play this river? Against a fish betting middle/bottom pairs: bet? Against a TAG: check/call?

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (7 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, CO calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, SB calls, BB calls.

Flop: (8 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
SB checks, BB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, CO calls, SB calls, BB calls.

Turn: (6 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">BB bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, CO calls, SB folds, BB folds.

Betting here seems fine. Why place CO on a Q?

CO looks like a loose-passive to me. at least on this hand. Calling two bets cold on the turn. I'd definately bet the river.

Edit: although this could be influenced by the fact that CO didn't raise on the river. You should'nt have told us what he did :-)

Against CO no question, you're usually ahead, and a river value bet is good.

I don't think he could be very TAG, cold calling in CO when he could have re-raised to isolate you or folded, especially 7 handed. Also calling down on a board like that is the opposite of TAG. Maybe TP, if his VPIP is really low.

The interesting thing would be if BB had stayed in after leading out on the turn, and then he led out on the river. Would you re-raise, fold, or call?

If you would call a river bet (and you should) then you should bet out. If 3-bet, call, and then make a note of it when he shows you a set of 4s.
