My wife is joining a 1-3 Nl 40min-100max buyin tonight and she has never played nl before. She plays limit and is very weak tight. I am looking for some advice I can give her to ensure she does not lose a bundle. The game will be 6-7 handed so the blinds will get her is she plays only premium hands. She does not play well after the flop and these guys will try running her out every time because she is so timid. Looking for starting hand requirements and simple rules to follow after the flop.

doesn't sound like the type of game to get her introduced to NL.

She is playing no matter what, not playing is not an option. I'm thinking she should play all pp looking to hit a set along with AK, AQ AJs etc. Post flop will be no set no bet and with AA KK trying to get all her money in preflop is the way to go. Much drinking will be going on and the guys will be loose as the night goes on. One other wife will be playing who plays the same way.

Max buyin of 33BB? Sounds like shortstack play time. Push premium hands, fold the rest.

Good point pinksteel, should have her buyin for min and push with premium pair. Takes all the thinking out of it.

She'll get a "premium pair" (which I'm assuming is TT+), 1/44 hands. If she buys in for minimum, she'll be able to see about 60-70 hands before she's broke. Uh oh.

Premium hands, not premium pairs.
