Flush Kicker
Say me and another person both draw to a flush, the ace is on the board, I have the king and the other player has the queen, do we split or would I win with king kicker.

Re: Flush Kicker
If you have K[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img]7[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img], your opponent has Q[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img]J[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] , and the board is:
A[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img]5[img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img]9[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img]4[img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img]2[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] You win with an AK972 club flush against your opponent's AQJ92 club flush. |

Re: Flush Kicker
You don't have a King 'kicker' in this case. Remember, you are making the best 5 card hand here.
If the board shows 4 clubs and one of them is the Ace and you have the King and another player has the Queen - you are both sharing the Ace. So, at this point it's up to one of you to make the best 5 card hand. Just as a bigger straight beats a smaller one - the flush follows that same logic. Say you have this board: J [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] 5 [img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img] 8 [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] K [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] You hold T [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] Your opponent holds 7 [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] You would win this pot as well as your pocket Ten is higher than any spade in his hand giving you the 'best' flush. |

Re: Flush Kicker
If the board showed 5 clubs such as :
A [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] K [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] J [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] and you had the 2 [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] 3 [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] and your opponent had the 4 [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] then you would split the pot. |

four of a kind
What about when four of a kind comes up on the board and there are only two players left: do the hole cards matter?

Re: four of a kind
only if they are higher than the 5th card on the board.
if the board is K [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] K [img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] A [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] then the board has the nuts and you split if its K [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] K [img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] T [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] And you have A [img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img] and your opponent has J [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] then you would win. |
