Re: weak with KK?
[ QUOTE ]
I think it is also very read dependent though, with the crazy action preflop and flop, a good player should place you on trips as well, and would slow down a bit if he has just a pair, so a bet on the turn could give you some information as to what he has... [/ QUOTE ] Reads should not matter when you have top set in this situation. There's nothing to do but get the most money in pot as possible. Villan would never play JT that way preflop and on the flop. |

Re: weak with KK?
[ QUOTE ]
You cannot just "decide" what someone has. You can put them on a range of hands. Is someone whose VPIP is 21 really going to 3-bet preflop with JT? Is he going to cap the flop with this hand? No f-ing way. I'd put him either AK, AA, KK, or QQ at that point. Since he capped the flop, your move is to check raise the turn. If you don't like that, you need to bet out. Check / calling is awful in my opinion and is only better than folding. Flush draw should not even be a concern on the river in this heads up situation. And again, villan 3-bet preflop, raised and capped the flop. Do you really think you need to be concerned about a runner runner flush at that point? I would be abosultely shocked if you did not have the best hand in this situation. You surely missed a couple of bets here. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with everything you (and others) have written here. Looking back on it, I understand how awfully I played this hand. I was scared of monsters under the bed, when in fact, there is no reason to be scared. It was a few BB lesson in missed bets, but not a mistake I intend to repeat in the future. FWIW, Villain had KJs (?). I won the pot, and immediately threw up in my mouth a little considering how I played it. |
