How do 5 card stud players who aren\'t donks play each other?
I seriously don't see how in a 5stud limit a great player could have any meaningful edge over one who is somewhat good? Am I mistaken? I seriously don't understand this form of poker, unless you add something like High/Low w/ a redraw.

[/ QUOTE ] Dear Alex/Mugaaz, the inability to have any kind of meaning edge over a good opponent is not unique to five card stud. Poker is not chess. Great hold'em players have little or no edge over great hold'em players. Paradoxically, games of limited skill become games of chance again when competent players meet one another a la dominoes, gin rummy, monopoly, etc. The amount of complexity needed for one great player to have a meaningful edge over another one is found in board games such as chess and checkers but not poker. |
