Pushing with AJ
Reads: Villain is the maniac from hell. He's been raising every hand the last 10 hands to $10. He's also been calling or reraising every raise/push.
CO is a decent player. I'm fairly sure she'd make a move with a monster here rather than flat calling. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (9 handed) converter Hero ($79) UTG ($177.93) UTG+1 ($85.14) MP1 ($83) MP2 ($63.2) MP3 ($93) CO ($182) Button ($125.75) SB ($127.65) Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.5. UTG raises to $10, 4 folds, CO calls $10, 2 folds, Hero is all in ($79).... Who likes it? Who hates it? Obviously I didn't lose my stack, results later. |

Re: Pushing with AJ
Will maniac call with any two cards? If so, it's an easy push as long as you aren't worried about getting sandbagged by CO.

Re: Pushing with AJ
I don't.
AJo is by no means a great hand. Against a PP you are at best a coin flip. You really want to risk your stack on that? IMO, even including fold equity, this is a long term -EV. |

[/ QUOTE ] Does this apply to 6max too. I hear everyone say that AJ is bad news but then they say its a good hand to play shorthanded?? |

Re: Pushing with AJ
Aj is not the greatest hand in the world though it is better short handed.
My problem is that he is up against a maniac and a rock. even maniacs are not complete idiots. They normally like to bet out heavy but will back down when played back at unless they have something. Obviously this hand is gonna make a fool out of me since the OP stated he did not lose his stack here. However, in the lond run I still think this is -EV. I very much doubt a maniac will call with something really bad but could easily do so with a pair. |

IMO, even including fold equity, this is a long term -EV. [/ QUOTE ] The only fold equity I was looking for was CO. Against maniac I had call equity. How many good players are calling a push and a flat call without aces or kings? That's why I'm wondering if it's a good play. [ QUOTE ] I don't. [/ QUOTE ] I didn't either with CO counting the clock down. |

Re: Pushing with AJ
I honestly don't see any reason to get fancy with AJ.
While it may have worked for you this time, this situation/course of action/desired result will not occur enough for it to be useful for analysis. This is pretty much a bad beat post that turned out as a win for you. |

Re: Pushing with AJ
100% read dependent. Ive seen people call such bets with A5-AT so it may not be bad.

While it may have worked for you this time, this situation/course of action/desired result will not occur enough for it to be useful for analysis [/ QUOTE ] This is not so much about AJ or this particular hand. It's a question of pushing to isolate a bad player with a weak hand against a good player with a hand probably better than your own. I hoped others with more experience could provide some insight, and they have. Apologies if this isn't useful, I wasn't sure about this hand and wanted some feedback. BZ |
