Default Should I have been able to lay this down?

I played in a casino for the first time last weekend, and ran into this hand. Online I think it's a definite call, and in a tournament I would have felt ok busting out on this hand. But in the specific circumstances I'm still wondering if I should have been able to lay it down.

Taj (AC) 1-2 No Limit

Hero has $95 in Seat 2 with K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Villain is in Seat 4 with $90.
UTG folds.
Hero raises to $6.
Seat 3 folds.
Villain calls.
Seat 5-9 fold.

SB folds.
BB calls.

Flop: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Hero bets $20. (Trying to drive out draws and get information on where I stand.)

Villain raises all-in. Villain says, "I know you've got me but I've just got to see it."

BB folds.

(Ok, I definitely got some information here. Since I had been playing tight aggresive to this point, raising only big pairs aside form one hand where I open raised from late position w/ Q-10u and lost at showdown. I figure that villain has put me on a big pair and wanted to see the flop. Even though 7-10 seems like an unlikely hand to call a raise from early position with, that's what I'm most worried about. Regardless, unles he's bluffing or drawing to the flush I'm a two-outer.
I finally, reluctantly decide I can't fold here, there are enough ways I'm ahead to justify the call.)

Result in white:

Sure enough, villain showed 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] for the straight. Turn and river were no help.

raise more preflop.

definite fold on the flop. the worst he has is flush+straight draw...which is about even money.

EDIT: sigh, you're getting about 2:1 and this short stack structure definitely makes it difficult. will you win this 33% of the time? i don't know...i don't think so, though.

this is why i hate short stack poker. i was winning when PP was 50BB stacks, but post-flop poker is so much more rewarding.

I have not seen the result but this is a default call for me usually. Peoples go all-in a lot with draw or smaller overpair with short stacks like that. The pot is too big to fold for the amount of money the vilain has gone all-in. Its only 64 $ dollar more for a pot of 123 $.

you probably have to call, although when people usually say stuff like he did, it's usually the opposite of what they actually say...meaning he had the nuts here, or close to it.

Yeah, I figured that "have to see it" line was BS, but I didn't want to read too much into it. My main regret is that I didn't try to turn it back on him, ie. asking him how sure he was that my hand was good. Aside from a small weekly home game, almost all my experience is online, and I'm not much of a talker at the table anyway.
If I get the chance to get back to AC anytime soon that'll defiitely be an area of my game to work on.

LOL It just seems such a dumb thing to say. Who would reraise someone around 4x their bet ifthey thought they were losing?

This is like the I'll act really weak then raise. "I've got nothing so I'll put in the rest of my money."

No question I should've raised more pre-flop. The standard opener at the table was $10, I should've gone that much at least. The reason I didn't was that I had been opening for 3x every other time I had raised and I didn't want to change up on this hand.

You should be raising more pre-flop every time.
