Ideal format for All-in strategy?
A local poker league has an interesting format. It's a free league and you just get "points", the value of which I'm not sure.
You get 3000 in chips and the blind start at 100/200, moving up every 18 minutes, tourney ends after 1.5 hours. I've only played once, well, one hand . I flopped 2 pair and ended up pot committed by the turn bet. This got me to wondering if this is basically the ideal format for the Sklansky all-in strategy. Just playing one good hand will pretty much put you there anyway. If you raise to 600 preflop, bet 1/2 the pot on the flop, you've got well over 1/2 your chips in there at that point. Might as well go all in either preflop, or if you catch any of the flop you'd otherwise want to be. |
