Racing off chips, can it make you broke?
Imagine you have two 100 chips left in a tournament, and that is all you got, you get to the break, go for some fresh air, and when you come back you are out of the tournament as your chips have been raced off to make smallest denomination 500.
Does this happen, or are you assured to be left with atleast 1 (500)chip? Jack 'TreeHouse' Strauss won the WSOP Main Event from 1 chip left... ToT |

Re: Racing off chips, can it make you broke?
I've never heard of a case where someone was eliminated by a race-off. They were always given 1 chip of the higher denom to play with.

wow, I don't see why they wouldn't just race you off.... that would be AWESOME. Seriously, I hope it happens to me just so I have this story to tell. Hell, who says it has to happen, I'm gonna tell this bad beat story all the time.
"You think that's bad??? I once got busted in a tourney during a chip race OFF. Not a race... a race OFF! Yeah, pulled KKQ for my three chips, three others all had aces. Busted without playing a hand." CSC |

Hurts just to think about it! ToT |

Re: Racing off chips, can it make you broke?
Revisions of TDA rules state that someone can no longer be raced off, they would recieve one of the next highest denomination of chip (ex. 3 100's turn into a 500).
