What do you do to keep your focus during a 20-25 buyin downswing?
I am in the midst of a 25 buyin downswing at the 22's, and am trying to remain positive. I could whine all day about QQ-AA being taken down, and coinflips not being quite 50/50, but I know you've all been there. I'm not panicing, as I had built my roll up to 65 buyins.
Does a run like this come at the 22's often? I've taken a break, gone over hand histories, and tried to just keep playing good poker. What do some of you guys do when variance is beating you down? |

Like I posted in another thread. When in a downswing such as this I find it very soothing to go down to the S&M bar and get walked on by a fat chick in stilletos.
Good luck to you |

Don't care about your bankroll or stats. Even when your winning. The important thing is to play every single one the best you can. If you lose 65 buyins, you probably shouldn't be playing in the first place.
Ideally you shouldn't even care about your stats, graph, bankroll or whatever. Caring about all that only affects your play. Stats should only be used to improve your play. |

I recommend exploring the world of fine liquors. Not while playing. Getting high will make you think too much.

[/ QUOTE ] Whatever floats your boat, man. I just add another table, play continuously instead of in sets, and play 357 more SNGs/day when I'm losing. I should really just stop doing that. But honestly, just grab your tourney summaries, sit down with the replayer and eastbay's program, and go to it. Go through every one of 'em, even the ones you busted in 7th or 8th place. You'll most likely learn a few things, and even more importantly, you'll realize that you're probably not playing as bad as you thought. |

I do the same as dasleben I usually just start playing a lot more when im running bad. I also like take breaks and do other things to take my mind off of poker. I then come back fresh and plug away.

I go back to single tabling and concentrate. Maybe it's just variance, bad luck, etc., but if you multi-table, maybe your play is getting sloppy too.
