Default NL400 6 max AK -- You make the call!

Initial raiser raises too much. Other guy I am pretty sure is bad, but I haven't seen him do anything notable either way.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $4 BB (6 max, 6 handed) converter

saw flop|saw showdown

MP ($487)
CO ($400.5)
Button ($1555.6)
SB ($1002.95)
Hero ($421)
UTG ($285.8)

Preflop: Hero is BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG calls $4, 2 folds, Button raises to $12, SB calls $10, Hero raises to $52, UTG folds, Button folds, SB calls $40.

Flop: ($120) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $99, SB calls $99.

Turn: ($318) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, you make the call!...

Please include plans for all the hand from here (turn and river) and why.

I just check it through and get the money in on the river. You only have about 250 left, and betting the turn may let him get away with something like TT.

Check here or go all in. If you check, and he bets river call...if he checks all in.

Check behind, hope an Ace dont fall and go all in on river..if an Ace falls, i dont think he's gonna call with TT,or JJ, which are the 2 most likely hands here.

Check behind on turn. Call reasonable bet on river. Possibly bet.

I notice that everyone here thinks that checking the turn and either calling a bet or making a bet on the river is the correct line of play. However, I think if you are often betting into scare cards that come on the turn as a bluff, then sometimes you have to go ahead and bet scary turns that help you as well, as part of your overall strategy of mixing up your play. If you always check in this situation when you make something, then when you bet it's a giveaway that you have medium strength hand or total steal when you do bet this type of turn.

Anyway, I think the correct play is that you sometimes check and sometimes bet, and that if you are bluffing with the right frequency on scary turn cards, that when you do bet, you will sometimes still get called by hands like JJ and TT.

If you're going to check the turn and call the river here it shouldn't be so 99-TT can pay you off- it should be to avoid paying off a set any more than you have to. If he's at all reasonable with 99 here he's not going to lead the river, especially after deciding to check-call, and if he's made the decision to call down with TT/99 here he's going to call a bet on a K turn more so than he's going to lead a river. Keep in mind there aren't too many cards on the river that are going to make you feel any more confident. Lots of straight scares, which I'm inclined to think you're up against way more so than not being that its $400 6 max on Party. That being said, w/o a read I make a decent sized value bet here. If he pushes in the likelyhood of him having a set, or even something like 2 pair, is really high, high enough where if you have the discipline to make a fold here you can, but otherwise I'm trying to get some money out of 75, T9, 54, 43. His overcall preflop isn't enough for me to give him credit for any kind of real hand here. I hope the advice of pushing was sarcasm.
