25/50 AA
25/50 NL on Ladbrokes
4 handed. Villain and Hero have played each other quite a lot. Villain is fairly aggressive, but a little too loose preflop. He has a tendency to bet too little on his good hands postflop. I have never seen him do this minumum raise before though. Hero has 5k, Villain 3k. Hero has AA in sb. Others fold. Hero raises to 175, Villain calls. Flop: 7d 9s Js Hero bets 300, Villain raises to 600. What's your move? |

Re: 25/50 AA
Is one of hero's Aces the spade?
Mini raises always confuse me. |

Re: 25/50 AA
Call and check raise a non-spade, non-K or 8 turn. Lead a spade K or 8 turn for $750 and fold to a raise.

raise to 1500. [/ QUOTE ] Why would you do that? That lets the villain get away from hands you're beating and helps tie you to the pot when you're behind. SpaceAce |

[/ QUOTE ] If you just call as I would, then there will be around 1550 in the pot and villain will only have 2K left. If his min raise was merely to buy a free card on the turn with a draw or top pair, he isn't going for the checkraise. Min raises are confusing and don't always mean that someone is beating you and just trying to suck you in, as in this case he might have AJ/KJ trying to push AK out. I would call and then lead out for 1200 into any non-threatening turn card which effectively sets him in and takes away the steal play from him if he has a pair and gutshot straight draw and a spade hits. |

Re: 25/50 AA
I know it sounds lame but I like moving in on the flop.
I understand that it allows him to get away from hands that you are beating like KJ, but with the min raise, to much of the deck becomes a scare card on the turn. For instance villain could min raise AJ, KJ, QJ, JT, maybe J8 but unlikely. He could also have any combination of flush draw hands including A7 spades. Basically any 7,8,T,Q,K or spade looks like a card that beats you, so unless you are folding to any of these cards on the turn, just keep yourself from making the mistake and move in and get him to commit all his chips in a bad spot. |

Re: 25/50 AA
Another thing is that most hands that you beat, check raising wont work because he is going to check behind on the turn if he misses anyway and get a free card
