Turning Stone
Hi all, I am going to Turning Stone Casino this weekend and would like to know about the play from anyone that has played there.
I am looking to play in their 15/30 limit and 2-5nl games and want to know what the general caliber of play is. I imagine it's a little different from my usual Foxwoods hauntings becausee of the youngerr players and less old-timers. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks |

Backwards Cornell hat, 20 years old, I'll have a pirate sitting on the table in front of me and will hopefully have a giant mound of chips. Give a "sup bro". I'd be glad to give you my treatise on that game over lunch or something when we get there but I'm at work and I don't feel like typing it all out. =) -dB |

Re: Turning Stone
Right here, gonna be up saturday-monday - the NL games are usually young kids and slightly insane older guys, pretty easy depending on how quickly you get a read on who the good internet whiz kids are.
The 15/30 is usually stacked with solid regulars waiting for some poor fish from online to sit down...Though when there's a tournament going (and just after) you can get a better variety of players and a REALLY loose 10/20 often pops up. |

[/ QUOTE ] Some of the middle-aged and older players are solid regulars, but either way it's pretty easy to figure out who knows how to play poker. If you're playing the 2/5 NL, take small edges to try to build a stack. If you lose, reload. You need a stack at that game IMO. -dB |

Re: Turning Stone
The 2-5 NL will be going its rare that teh 15-30 goes usually its 10/20 and 20/40 no 15/30....I have not been around much at all though beacuse I have been busy with work, but it seems in the 20/40 that most of the guys in that game think they can play crappy cards preflop and there post flop skills will make up for it....that is not the case. The 10/20 and 20/40 are pretty soft if you know what your doing, and are fairly easy to beat.

Re: Turning Stone
Would some of the TS regulars mind visiting http://poker.wikicities.com/wiki/Turning_Stone and updating/correcting my observations? I was there last week and observed the same thing about the $15/30 - seems like $20/40 is their "big" LHE game there. At any rate, check the link and correct anything I got wrong or omitted.
(And I trust the 2+2 community will let me know -- possibly via PM -- when they find my wiki links to have reached the annoying point. However, my take is that once we get the info on there to be pretty reliable, we can answer "How are the games at Cardroom X?", which comes up a million times a day on this forum, with a single link. It's not my wiki; it's the community's wiki. I'm just its most obessed promoter a/t/m.) |
