Default AK 4 handed and coldcalling the turn

Both players had been lag preflop, and decently aggressive postflop. Nothing insane. I had been playing at the table for a while and getting fairly cold-carded preflop and I was getting a bunch of respect when I entered a pot.

Why are you not raising the flop? TOP TWO!

They allow you to raise on the turn too. Plus then the bet is twice as large.

Normally I would auto-raise this flop, but I felt that a turn raise would be best.

I'll revisit this when I wake up tomorrow morning.

3-bet the turn if you aren't going to raise the flop. BB could be popping this turn with a lot of hands that you crush. The SB would rarely lead a flopped straight and would have 3-bet a set hand PF.

What is your reasoning for not 3-betting the turn?

once you dont raise the flop the turn is a tad scary - from the BB's point of view you havent shown great interest in the hand so he may have nothing more than top pair - 3 betting the turn looks a lot like a monster but i'm horrified that a draw isnt going to pay the max to see the river - plan C might be to call the turn and raise the river

i think this would be much easier if i had just done the honest thing and raised the flop

Why is the Turn scary?

The only hand that improves past Hero on the Turn is precisely 99.
