5/10 AKs hand
Villain is 54/14/2.7, with 90 hands on him from datamining, no actual experience vs this player. I got burned for slowplaying the same type of hand yesterday, so I thought I would fast play these trips.
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 6 handed) converter Hero ($990) BB ($493) UTG ($1100.13) MP ($343.34) CO ($1277.75) Button ($1736.87) Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $5. 1 fold, MP calls $10, 1 fold, Button raises to $45, Hero (poster) calls $40, 1 fold, MP calls $35. Flop: ($145) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero bets $40, MP folds, Button raises to $150, Hero calls $110. Turn: ($445) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks intending to C/R all-in. Thoughts? |

Re: 5/10 AKs hand
Unless this guy is a bit of a donk, I think the weak lead/call is a bit obvious and given that the flop wasn't that draw heavy, I think he's going to have a tough time betting the turn with anything other than a K, in which case the money is probably getting in anyway.

I got burned for slowplaying the same type of hand yesterday, so I thought I would fast play these trips. [/ QUOTE ] This is no reason to play different from what you think is correct. Losing a hand yesterday should have no bearing on what you do today. That being said, I would probably re-raise preflop. I don't like letting people keep raising and raising when I have a good hand. I'm going to punish their overly aggresive play. I like your betting on the flop, although I think you have to bet a bit more. I tend to swing for the fences when I make a big hand, and if they fold, oh well. I would bet about $65 or so. Once he raised the flop, he showed he likes his hand. Very few hands have a decent shot at beating you. If he has QJ, for an OESD, only the 9 gives him a winner. If he has a King, obviously you'll get all-in. I like checkraising all in. |

Re: 5/10 AKs hand
whats he going to raise you on the turn with after you called his re-raise on the flop? the only things he might raise again with are another AK, or maybe KQ. Chances are he's going to check behind you and he gets a free river.

Re: 5/10 AKs hand
well thats the thing, I put him on AK, KQ, or KJ (mabye). So I check the turn hoping he bets his king. Or is it better to lead the turn?

Re: 5/10 AKs hand
I lead the turn, hes probably not folding KQ, and you dont give QJ or a pocket pair a free river

Re: 5/10 AKs hand
Lead the turn, he could have a K or AA. I would not make it obvious either, pot it and see what happens.
Just be glad you pulled out some $$ with AK |

Re: 5/10 AKs hand
Actually what happened was that I checked the turn, he potted, I raised all-in, he instacalls with TT. Then I spiked my A on the river .
