Pokerstars $55 NL Sit and GO 2 tables
I have 2000 in chips in the 75-150 blind stage. To my surprise they have changed the structure, thus there were no antes at this point....I was about 7th out of 9. UTG and someone else call $150, and its up to me with 88. Now I have a decision to make. I have a problem with putting 1/10th of your stack in with a call, trying to hit a set....so I felt like I could either make a large raise or that I should fold. The money in the pot is already $525. What would you guys do?

Re: Pokerstars $55 NL Sit and GO 2 tables
If it was unclear we were down to the final table of 9 players, and I was in 7th place. the two callers had about 3000 and 1100 in chips respectively. The blinds had about 2500 ish. |

i wouldn't mind make a call or a small raise. You got the position. position is probably more important than cards at this stage. You don't need to hit a set to play the hand.

I would make a pot-sized raise here and hope to take it there. You are in 7th place and need to make a move, IMO.

i would say that the two in are probably medium to high card suited connectors type hands and this could be an ideal time for you to all in and take it down

Re: Pokerstars $55 NL Sit and GO 2 tables
Hi, yeah I went all in and was called by 99 from UTG and I lost the hand. I still feel like it was a proper play. I dont like to raise 450 or so because i dont think thats going to make people fold, and if Im going to raise 700 or 800 I think that I should put it all in, instead of leaving 40% of my stack out there.

Totaly agree. I don't like raising 3xBB when there are limpers in front of me. Whit limpers, I usually like to raise 4x or 5x BB. Since raising that much is a big chuck of your stack, I'd move all-in on the hand. U got called by 99 but those things happen. Better got out making a move then getting blinded to death. -Happy |

Re: Pokerstars $55 NL Sit and GO 2 tables
88 is a good allin hand, but with a limped UTG in late stage of an NL tournment, I think it sucks. What kind of hand can UTG possibly have, if it's not 88, 99, TT, JJ, AA, AKs? even fish knows that UTG is not a good place to limp weak hands, especially late in tournaments.
just my 2c |

Re: Pokerstars $55 NL Sit and GO 2 tables
i'm interested in your comments
i could hardly believe he had limped with 99 yes, i could maybe see AA or possibly even KK, although, at this stage, i would have thought limping with those hands is potentially a waste of a great hand other than those "unusual" limping hands i stick with my medium to high suited connectors or, alternatively, low pairs what advantage do you gain by limping with 99? it's high enough to try to win by default but calling an all in has to be high risk play, to say the least, especially when you are hardly committed to the pot |
