Re: Hollywood Park, CA -I\'d be surprised...
I used to go to Hollywood Park a lot before I moved to Vegas....in fact, it's where I learned to play poker....
great local action there....lots of really bad players.... of course, it's a dump. |

Re: Hollywood Park, CA -I\'d be surprised...
school is close by so sometimes I drop by the 100$NL, fishy as can be, and I myself am a bad NL player... great food too. however the limit games are too much raped by rake and jackpot blinds... and inglewood is up to no good...

Re: Hollywood Park, CA -I\'d be surprised...
Commerce games can run looser/more agressive than HP.
$3-6 and $4-8 at Commerce are abolutely filled with calling stations. There are so many tables at Commerce, that if your table is too tight, just get a table change. And it should go without saying, that the best action is on Friday and Saturday night after 9pm, esp if your table is filled with drinkers. $1-2 NL, they usually have 10-12 tables going on Friday and Saturday night. |

Re: Hollywood Park, CA -I\'d be surprised...
Valet is a must. The parking lot is huge and dark. The food is terrible. The service is mediocre. The players are the usual assortment of a-holes that roam the LA poker scene. The games are very good. Close to the airport.
Trade-offs are necessary. DN |

Is there still a McDonald's across the street with the cashiers behind bullet-proof glass? That's always the sign of a good neighborhood.

[ QUOTE ]
I've seen the security there have to tackle people before, and it is swift, uniform, and clean. [/ QUOTE ] Just to clarify, is it a good thing that security is so well trained because they handle "occurances" every day? |

Re: Hollywood Park, CA -I\'d be surprised...
very true on the limit games, but theres just something about those HP players that makes em love to go all in all the time, whereas commerce the players seem to do a lot of betting/raising not nearly as big of amounts.. i also dont like the fact that at commerce and HP its both 2/3$ blinds, which seems high - is there anywhere in town where they got 1/2 blinds? i havent played NL at the bike or normandie
