Funny post.

But this situation comes up all the time. I think you have be careful at this stage of a tourney. You don't want to be gambling with any of the large stacks. I think you could have made a 2-3X BB raise that would have accomplished the steal.

This move would be more acceptable against a small stack 3-7XBB. 8s aren't that great. Pusing against a big stack is sort of crazy at this stage of the tourney.

Im not going to talk about the play, however when it gets down to this many people, I usually like to have all of the remaining tables open. This way you do not have to rely on the "stupid empire window"
