Default What was this guy thinking...

Sorry I don't have the converter, but I'll give you a to the point breakdown. $10 Multi Poker Stars 150 of 867 players left, top 81 make the money, blinds 400/800 50 ante Hero (t24000) AsJs on the button. Folds to me, make it t2400. BB (t54000) calls. Flop 6sAd9s. BB bets 1200, I make it 10250. He reraises me all in. I call, he turns over A7o. Turn 3d river 7h. Did this guy play this hand right or did I do something wrong? I had a good read on him and knew he was just playing his stack instead of his cards. I raised preflop to show strength and my post flop raise, I thought was strong enough to confirm the strenght. Did he really think I was weak? How do you call this post flop raise will A7o? Am I missing something? This hand is really bugging me. Sorry again about not having the hand converter.

Default BAD BEAT ALERT

0. This is a bad beat story, of little interest to others, and shouldn't be posted - but I'll humor you with a reply anyway since you're new here and others might get the idea.

In general: Don't post bad beat stories - they're a waste of time, space, and encourage the wrong kind of thinking about poker. If you need to steam do it somewhere else.

1. Please insert some paragrafs in your post - it makes the text much more readable.

2. Why do you overbet the flop? You have a very strong hand - TPGK & nut flush draw - and you want the BB to stay in. Unexplicably you're raising like you desperately want him out. A call or a much smaller raise (if any) is recommended, unless you think you can coax the BB into moving in by faking a steal attempt (and even for that your raise is too big).

3. If the BB was thinking at all - and in a $10 buy-in there's a good chance he didn't - he might have been thinking that you were trying to bully him out because of your over-raise.

4. Your play is extremely successful - you get the BB to commit the maximum possible amount of chips with an inferior hand. Why are you unhappy with that?

Poker is not about being psychic and predicting the cards to come - it's about maximizing the pot when you have the best of it.

5. You must stop focussing on the outcome and instead think about the odds; otherwise you will not learn. This is absolutely fundamental.

Best,

McMelchior (Johan)

Ignoring for a moment the error of posting a bad beat (you are a newbie, and this is allowed once)...

If you can get your chips in with a huge advantage, you've done what you can. Well played.

Now, you are to be fined $1 for telling a bad beat story. When next you are in a casino, you must sit down and toss the dealer a buck when you post in.

Enjoy.
