Re: Why is a full house called a boat?
In Mississippi 1906, a man named Thomas Winslow lost his riverboat to another man named Ken Stitson when he had an ace-high flush beat by a full house, I think it was queens over 8's but history is not positive about that.
Stitson then used the boat to have tours down the Mississippi river and the boat became a conversation piece. The boat was used for cards as well, and the full house name was eventually turned into the term "boat". |

Re: Why is a full house called a boat?
[ QUOTE ]
why do they call ace high ace high? [/ QUOTE ] Because Johnny "Ace" Smith was playing in a hotel room game in Dallas, and someone switched his cigars for wacky backy. After a couple hours, "Ace" was a little under the influence, and thought that AKJT9 made a straight. |
