Default WSOP 2005 Rant...

If my count is correct, there are 42 events this WSOP. There 29 Hold Em events. Am I the only one who thinks this is proposterous? They took out awesome events and filled them with what....NLHE?

there's no mixed-game event this year - that was my largest disappointment.

People don't want to play those other games. They want to play no-limit hold 'em.

Atleast they didn't get rid of all the other games like the Bellagio did.

they are spreading a wide variety of side games down there.

i was even looking for sklansky at the 50/100 stud8 game.

The Plaza tried to do a series of events last month, that included HORSE, lowball, and other "minor" events and it tanked.

That is because it is the plaza and it is downtown. It would have been much smarter for them to spread buyins from 200-2000.

Agreed on all counts, the Plaza didn't care to promote the tournament very well either.

I certainly agree that they are diminishing the special aura of the "World Series" by eliminating the less popular poker forms in favor of the one that attracts the most participants. No longer will the WSOP determine the "champion" of each form of publically played poker. I was personally disappointed that my best game (in which I competed last year), ace-to-five limit lowball, was eliminated this year.
