Re: final table hand - did I misplay?
The player was typical...not really loose or tight. I did not get the sense he was stealing a lot...but 3 headed it's tough to tell at that point.

Re: final table hand - did I misplay?
I don't like your play. Your hand is not strong enough to
reraise with and you bleed too many chips with a call, so I prefer a pass. If I were to play the hand I would reraise and hope my opponent were to pass. But all things considered, I am not excited about playing A5o out of position. I would wait for better opportunities. Bruce |

Re: final table hand - did I misplay?
The preflop call is terrible. Even though it's 3 handed you are all fairly deepstacked with a minimum of 18 BBs thereby leaving prenty of action before having to push with any weak A. The raise is not weak either at 4 times the BB therefore his range of hands could include any big A, A 10+, any mid to high pair 9s+ or else a total bluff. By calling you are hoping for a flopped two pair or set of 5s because if an A flops you are probably beat by a better A and if the flop brings a 5 with no A as in the actual hand you have no confidence given that he could have raised with an over pair or hit one of the face cards on board. Basically by calling you gain absolutely no information and are really just hoping that the flop hits you hard. Raising on the other hand costs you too much therefore this should be a simple fold.

Re: final table hand - did I misplay?
I would rather make this preflop call with QJs than A5o. The stacks are deep enough that you can wait for another spot unless you think you can push over the top of him.

If I thought I was ahead of him I would have re-raised him then bet out any flop.
I have a general rule of thumb and thats to never call out of position. |
