Re: AKs with the worst river, $33 hand
[ QUOTE ]
Do you mind explaining why you would play any ace in that manner? Trying to get a donkey to make a tough laydown isn't something I'm in the habit of doing all that often. (if ever) [/ QUOTE ] Who said anything about playing it this way against a donkey? |

Re: AKs with the worst river, $33 hand
Ok, well I'd be curious why you'd be doing this against any type of opponent. I'm not trying to be an @ss here, I would just never play Ax that way so I'd like to learn something new. If you want to keep the thought process to yourself, I completely understand.
Say your opponent is weak/tight, has AK here and will lay it down every single time the river drops a heart. He will also donate his stack to you every time your kicker appears on the river, but he will stack you off with two pair versus your smaller two pair. I still don't see how this play makes sense given you're only getting 2.35-1 on the turn call. |

Re: AKs with the worst river, $33 hand
It's too early to be playing for your entire stack. Lay it down and curse your rotten luck.
Personally your opponent played this exactly how I would play a set. I think you're beat. Even if you are not, you still have enough chips to get back in the game if you lay down the best hand. |

Because against a lot of particular types of opponents, in addition to possible bluff outs, there's also a substantial chance that I have the best hand.
