Turn Check
I open raise from the CO with A7o. The big blind calls me. He has reasonable stats for the four handed game we have been playing for the past hour and is a solid player. I do not have a good line on his check-raise tendencies but I know he is not one of those weak call-down with anything type of players. I think he is one of those solid players in the 30/60 who have to be tricked out of their money and aren't just giving it away. Nothing stands out in my notes about him.
The flop is AT7, rainbow. Check-bet-call. Turn is a T. Check-check? River is a blank. Bet-call? |

The turn card means you are chopping with or losing to any ace and middle pair just got there so betting for value isn't very attractive. Plus, getting checkraised would leave you in a quandry.

[/ QUOTE ] yeah, thats a bad turn, and you're not going to be getting a whole lot of calls from weaker hands by a solid player here(maybe 89) but a solid player would likely CR with that strong a draw on the flop trying to use the A as a scare. sure you might let him catch a gutshot, but also you'll proably induce a decent amount of bluffs, and also loose calls after you showed weakness on the turn. he might call with just about any pair on the river after it gets checked through. |
