KJo from UTG at 2/4?
Hi,
I have just stepped up from 1/2 to 2/4. At 1/2 I would limp with this hand and I am confident that is +EV. At 2/4 though, I have a feeling it is -EV (very difficult to play if somebody raises behind you, bad position if nobody raises). What does more experienced 2/4ers think about this? |

Re: KJo from UTG at 2/4?
I don't fit your criteria, but KJo UTG is a definite fold for me at anything but the most tight-passive of tables (where I'd typically raise to steal the blinds).
KJs is a different story, natch. |

Easy fold. (but I fold it at 1/2 as well)

[/ QUOTE ] I always fold KJo UTG 10 handed, but i think what the newbie meant was that u raise KJo b/c the opt. to pick up the blinds + the strength of your hand may make it worthwhile at tables where it's both tight and passive. You don't have to play the marginal hand against tricky players OOP when called or 3-bet as u would at a TAG/ LAG table. You get to play it against predictable/ tight players post-flop OOP when u don't take the blinds, which makes it a higher EV hand. This is why I open with 77/88 sometimes UTG at such tables, but i just don't bother w/ KJo. |

Re: KJo from UTG at 2/4?
Definate fold. You'll either see a zillion callers, which is not good for KJo (KJs wouldn't mind) or someone will raise you and you'll be in a small field where you're behind the raiser who has a PP or an ace.
KJo and ATo are folds UTG for me. AJo and KQ are less clear for me and I still waffle on what to do UTG with them. |

Wow. And I thought I was tight. I'd switch tables before I folded KJo at 2/4. I haven't played 2/4 in a couple of months but I can't imagine its changed that much. I raise with this hand in this spot a lot.
