Both great.

Glengarry was a complete dissappointment for me.

I have seen nearly every movie you guys listed in this thread and most should be seen.

Keanu Reeves is a tool.

He is definately a tool but it works for him in these movies... He is SUPPOSED to be a clueless idiot throughout 90% of them and it comes naturally to him

I kind of agreed. It's been a long time since I saw it. Maybe it was just that it was so hyped that I expected more. There were some great scenes, and the acting was so good it makes it well worth watching. But as I recall, I thought it moved way too slow. It's hard to put my finger on, but I thought something was missing.

Yes. He clearly made a name for himself by just being himself in Bill & Ted.

The acting is excellent, script excellent, this is enough for me. Give it another look. I would also recommend other Mamet scripted films:

American Buffalo, Spanish Prisoner, Heist (not great, not bad)..

One of my favorite movies in this same vein--ie, snappy smart dialogue and great acting--Hurlyburly.

See, I thought the same thing about Hurlyburly. Very good acting and dialog, but it seemed to just kind of drift along and was really missing something.

Like the others, it was oringially a play, then adapted. Thus, its dialog/acting driven. Perhaps if they had added an explosion or car chase somehwere?

I didn't realize these were plays. That does partially explain it. But no, i'm not saying they should be turned into smokey & the bandit. the stories just seemed to be missing something. i'm not saying they're bad, just they seemed to be missing something to me.

The Five Obstructions

This was pretty cool, I watched it for my fiction writing class.

My list includes Requiem for a Dream and Magnolia. I also want to watch some of Bogart's films, since I've only seen a couple.

Oh, Seven Samuri too.

Jaws

I envy the fact that you are going to watch this for the first time. When it's on TV I always stop to watch it.

Is Bourne Identity worth renting? People keep telling me it was good.
