Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG raises, Hero calls, 1 fold, MP1 calls, 2 folds, CO calls, 2 folds, BB calls. Final Pot: 18.66 BB -------------------------------------------- here's my thoughts... 3-bet is for value. AKs is a premium hand and you want to get in as much money as possible preflop. however, since UTG raised, and now UTG+1 3bets, i think anyone who continues from this point also has a premium hand, and as such it becomes a big crapfest on who's luckiest in hitting the flop hard. by cold-calling, you hide your strength, and invite more dead money from lower pocket pairs, suited cards, etc. of course reverse implied odds are here, but you have the nut flush to bail you out. the only reason i posted this situation/hand is because it is UTG raising with you in UTG+1. this is far different if you were in middle position or late position. have i been able to sway some people's opinions or am i flawed in my thinking... [/ QUOTE ] Nice river You think BB didn't have a straight or a J there? If a diamond didn't hit the river, how well your plan would have worked by letting everyone in for cheap |

[ QUOTE ] 99.8% of the time, you should 3-bet. [/ QUOTE ] Can you tell me about the 0.2% of the time it is correct to cold call? I don't see why. [/ QUOTE ] I think the other 0.2% accounts for possible misclicks... Tom |

I'd 3 bet most of the time, cold-calling here is an interesting concept though.
It can invite more action and win you bigger pots. Of course the variance will be higher, but the payoffs will be bigger when yuor hand is good. That is certainly an interesting concept. |

QTo and A3s [/ QUOTE ] Ok, I'll be not results oriented. I 3-bet this preflop about 100% of the time. The only time I wouldn't 3-bet this is if I was playing live, and the UTG player flashed me AA, then I'd fold. Smooth calling here seems to be FPS. Just my thoughts. |
