1/2 ~ 3/4 ~ pot ~ overpot

When discussing lines, people seem to recommend different size flop bets. From what I understand, you're supposed to play most your flops the same way monster or not, so the opponent cannot put you on anything? (so if you like betting a certain % of the pot you should be consistent in it?) If not what sized bets are good for which texture flops? I'd really appreciate help on this. Also does anyone make overbets?
