Annoying sets
Prima - 0,25/0,5
Hero - MP1 with K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Preflop 2 folds, villain calls, hero checks (second BB), 4 folds, BB checks. Flop 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] BB cheks, villain checks, hero bets, BB folds, villain checks Turn 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero bets, Villain Raises, Hero calls (???). River Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero checks, Villain bets, Hero calls. Villain showed 66. Question: 1) How to recognize these slowplayers? 2) Should I call the turn? 3) When I calculated odds thinking about drawing should I count my investment on the turn as 1BB(because it got clear that I need drawing only after raise) or as 2BB? 4) How do you play in such situations? |

Re: Annoying sets
Im a newbie...
I play this exactly the same way you did. My thoughts whilst playing are: Uh ho? fish just hit a straight? Hes holding 2pair now? Do i have pot odds to call hoping to hit my 2pair? Does he have a set? Hmm ok... Call down, Way Ahead/Way Behind. But very tempted to fold the turn raise... Pot is 5SB? |

Re: Annoying sets
I think you played it right. You had top pair, ok kicker so you had to bet the flop and turn without any aggression shown. When he raised, you could easily be behind to 2 pair or a set, but you dont know that! You only have to be best 2 in 8 or 9 times for this to be profitable, and there is know way that you can be certain to that level of accuracy that you are beat. Yes it is painful to lose to a set like this, but it happens. Just count yourself lucky that he did not fastplay it, and cost you another couple of bets.

Re: Annoying sets
His stupid slowplay saved you one bet.
You can't fold this turn HU unless you have very good reads and have played alot of hands HU against him, which is not the case here. |
