Re: Another hand from How good is your limit hold\'em
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] It's probably worth betting if you're the BB here. I would not have bet if I was the SB. [/ QUOTE ] Why not? [/ QUOTE ] Because it's probably fairly close, and in the BB, you have the additional favorable information that SB checked. I don't know. I'll confess that I don't take too much advantage of these sorts of opportunities, in part because they're easy to miss when your multitabling and miss your hand in a small pot and turn your attention to something else, and in part because I like to preserve my table image a bit for bigger pots. |

Re: Another hand from How good is your limit hold\'em
I thought a good general rule was "tight in a small pot, aggressive in a big pot." This pot is decidedly small, and you've got absolutely nothing. Given that your opponents are ultra-loose, it's hard to believe you can steal a pot here. Given that they're ultra-passive, it's easy to believe you could get another free card and make a better decision on the river.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think betting this is -EV under the conditions described. |

You need to fold out 4 people 1 out of 2 times to be break even. No way this is a bet.

Correction: 1 out of 3 times. [/ QUOTE ] Whatever. I don't think that swings the odds in our favor. |

You need to fold out 4 people 1 out of 2 times to be break even. No way this is a bet. [/ QUOTE ] 3 people, not 4. SB checked, and chances are last to act didn't have a duce. Theoretically you only have to really worry about 1 opponent, of course the SB could hold a duce and doesn't know how to play his hand correctly, but I'm willing to take that chance. Since the true concern is the next player to act, I think hero will probably take this hand down with at least 50% of the time against thinking players, but I'm not convinced he can take it down against a table of loose passives who are possibly total calling stations. I'll say it again... good book. Its got me thinking. I don't agree with everything they recommend, but its all thought provoking. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |
