you guys are smart, Cheers all - And OP, learnt something from this thread.

8.5 to 1 to hit a set isnt it?

Although with the agression could be costly if they hold AA/KK/QQ and hit their trips.

Although 22:1 if you miss it after flop? i always fold when i miss... do you all call from one more card?

If they both had an overpair you have pot equity around 15%.

If one had an overpair (like JJ-AA) and the other had 2 overcards (AQ/AK) you have pot equity around 20%.

If they both had overcards (AK/AQ), you are the favorite (maybe 45%), but in a difficult playing positon because if paint falls because you won't know what to do.

It's 2 bets to you and assuming the button raiser calls, there will be 7 bets in.

If it gets capped, it will be cost a total of 3 bets for a total of 9 (their 4 each plus the 1 you already have in).

I think it's a call, but only because of the implied odds if you hit a set. You will fold without a set and they will continue on with their top pairs if you do.

I don't think it's a no-brainer though because if the flop comes 8 and paint, it could cost you a fortune if one of the others also hits set.

My instincts would be to fold; however, your implied odds are good if you land that set. Could be a profitable hand.

Do you have any downside limit on what pairs you will call 2 bets with if you already have 1 bet in?

Any other exceptions ?

It's a no-brainer call beacuse you have no reason to assume button's raise is a big pocket pair. While BB's 3-bet is a little scary, he could also be raising non-paired big cards, and even if he is raising a pocket pair, there is no reason to fear "8 and paint" because more than half the time "paint" still misses him.

Fearing set over set preflop is overrated.
