Default Betting Strange Amounts

Whenever I bet strange amounts (like $12.34 or $6.66), people seem to call more often. Anyone with similar (or dissimilar) experiences?

I always thought it represented strength. I tend to call less often when they bet strange amounts.

I think it represents strength if you are actually taking the time to put in a crazy amount like that. If you are bluffing, you just want to bet and get the hand over with. What pisses me off is when it is unraised to the button or anybody in LP, and they raise it the minimal. I usually call just to bust idiots that do that with AA or KK( a lot of people do this at 50NL).

Hmm... maybe I'm just using selective memory. Just recently I've been getting people to call with ridiculously weak hands if I bet an odd amount - try it out!

IMO don't do it :

Vilain :
"oh he bet 3 $"
"oh he bet 5 buck"
" WHAT THE HELL? 3.99 $?? why did he do that??"

You make the vilain think when you put weird bet.

I dont call with any hand that I wouldnt anyway, but I have noticed that people who do this almost always stink.

Im not saying you do because I dont know you, but Ive never seen a good solid player do it.

I think that some of the reason is that when u bet a wierd amount their appears to be a big stack of chips representing a big bet and to someone who multi-tables thay may get the casual viewer to fold

Agreed...I think it bothers bad players and makes them want to call or push you with a decent hand (post flop).

I used it for a while with success, but there's usually a few regulars at my tables and after a while it became too much of a tell.

I usually get out the way when some is raising an odd amount.

I've played around with it because in certain situations I think it makes people think you are an idiot because usually only idiots do it. In general I dont bother though, although I really felt you get some more action with them, but I was using them against goons anyways.

If you want action and $4.20 is a reasonable or somewhat unreasonable bet for the situation, people will call and almost always assume you are a total moron.
