Default Call Call Call Bet

This hand has been bugging me for a few days.
My opponent played too man hands, but his raising standards seemed OK.

Should I have just 3-bet PF and then bet/raised the flop?
That's what I usually do. I guess I convinced myself this was a "way ahead/way behind" situation.

The line I took hasn't sat well with me, but I'm not sure it's not the wrong approach.

I like a preflop 3-bet. Since you didn't do it, this line is probably best...if mp bets the river I would raise.

Raise preflop.

Raise the flop. Slow down if he 3-bets you obviously.

The way you played it though (PF and flop action) you need to get a raise in there somewhere, and that most likely needs to come on the turn.

I agree with the other posters, raise preflop. unless he's a really he's passive preflop in which case I fold.

A friend of mine who plays professionally claims that there is a lot to be said for letting the big blind see the flop in this spot. Says that the BB's presence in the pot prevents you from being put to tough decisions postflop when you have no pair. As for me, I almost always 3bet or fold here.

You mean like when an agressive BB checkraises you on a rag flop?

I don't so much mind the smooth call pre-flop. Most of the time I would raise. However, once you're smooth called, I'd put in bets and raises on the flop and other streets. He can't really put you on such a strong ace, so get value for it. It'll also keep him guessing later.

No offense, but this one hand makes me think there is no way you are any sort of winner in 30/60 if it is at all standard.

No, I usually 3-bet PF here and bet/raise the flop.
I'm not sure why I played this hand so passively (which is why it's bugged me), and maybe I'm just being results oriented, but in this case, taking this line probably earned me 1.5BB more than if I had raised/bet/raised.

Opponent had 55.
