I'd play it the same way.

Ok. I was just worried that I was being too aggressive vs the raises by MP3, thinking he could have top set or the flush.

I would check-call the river. But I had too many bad beats lately...

What flush?

EDIT == Check calling is absurd.

Why does the river change anything?

Odd handle. Very nice hand. If he has an overpair, he will go crazy on a lowball flop like. Welcome to the boards.

Nice hand, though I would probably have folded PF.

This is something I do frequently - I still have bad habit of saying "Villain could be on a flush draw," and I raise. Or "he could have a monster," and I fold. One can really improve their game with what is IMO the most fundamental concept in poker: putting your opponent on a statistically-distributed range of hands based on combinatrics, prior play in the hand, and reads.

Could this guy could have raised 88 from MP3, or could he be a donk with two flukey clubs? Absolutely.

Without reads, does he have either of these hands a significant percentage of the time? I would say not.

Then can you bet/raise for value? IMO, yes.
