Default 65o big blind

Way too few hands with this guy to know much about him, except that he plays an awful lot of hands. I figured set or two pair.

PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">5 folds</font>, MP3 calls, CO calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (4 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises</font>, CO folds, SB calls, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 caps</font>, SB folds, Hero calls.

Turn: (7 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 caps</font>, Hero calls.

River: (15 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 caps</font>, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 23 BB

Poorly played on my part? OK up until the pair on board?

I calling down either after he caps the turn or raises the turn. Definitely check call the river.

I might slow down on the turn, although I can't fault you. You will see JT here a lot though.

River you definitely need to slow.

On the turn would it be more logical to put him on a set (nines for top set) or fear the worst (JT)? At that point JT was the only hand I was behind to.

River I definitely hosed, no doubt there.

Its hard to put very loose people on a hand so it would be in your best interest to risk the least money as possible and check call on the turn and river.

This is a good example of the right action (on the river), but the wrong thinking.

Here's the part I had a problem with:

Its hard to put very loose people on a hand so it would be in your best interest to risk the least money as possible

So what do you think is better thinking?

How 'bout:

"Gee, there is an obvious straight on the board on the flop and I have the ass-end of it"

"Hmmm, MP3 capped me on the flop with an obvious straight on the board"

"Hmmm, MP capped me on the turn with an obvious straight on the board"

You must slow down because he keeps betting in the face of the straight, dude. Don't you think he's got it? If he doesn't, you are indicating you've got it, and yet he's still going crazy. Check-call the river.
