easy fella, I'm getting ruined so far at 5/10 by runner, runner, and not knowing when to fold. My original post was an honest question, no matter how much of a douche you find me to be. The 250BB comment was from one of the posts in the thread I was directed to.

I know this wasn't directed at me, but did I miss something? Does this guy have a history or something? Just curious...

if I've got a history, I'm not aware of it... sorry to crash the party.

I just found this thread to be a waste and the OP to be obnoxious and condescending. Also, I didn't like the whole, "250 bb is the norm" bit about someone who is struggling at 5/10 and then saying how his streaks run at 20 BB. Maybe I'm being too sensitive.

[/ QUOTE ]

Dude my down streaks run at 20BB because I get up from the table. Totally not condescending to anyone's sensibilities. I realize I'm new and you're old hand, but if I'm a waste could you just put me on ignore or something?

Nowhere in your post did it indicate that you were in a downswing. I knew where u got the 250 BB comment. From the way I interpreted the OP was that u were running well and wondering how people can suck so much at poker that aren't doing as well as you. I don't know what site u are playing at, but party 5/10 is probably decent and u'll find the usual mix of good, bad, very good, and very bad players. I've only played 5/10 6-max and not a whole lot of that. The play seemed poor, but i didn't do well, probably b/c i wasn't ready for it and had little real 6 max experience (1/2 doesn't count).

I didn't mean to be an ass, but the quality of different levels has been discussed b/f and a question like "how do these players suck so bad" is pretty stupid and nobody will learn anything from it.

Also, if you're complaining about constant suckouts, then u don't really understand poker. It's alright to get upset, especially when u're first starting out, but u should realize that u make ur money from people make these and other mistakes.

Then it's not really a 20 bb downswing. If u have 5 -20 BB days in a row, it's a 100 bb downswing. He didn't lose 250 bb in one session. Nobody does.

I try not to be an ass to newbies b/c we all were at some point and maybe i misinterpreted ur post, so I'm sorry for that.

As a fellow newbie, don't sweat the cranky replies. Some of these guys won't even respond to your posts (well intentioned or otherwise) until you have "proven yourself". And when they do reply, well...sometimes its useful, other times its just bullcrap like the replies above. Only Poo-bah's and above are able to constantly post self-serving, useless posts filled with bragging, complaining etc.

You will get used to it, but don't take it personally!

Liam

I have been dealt a little less than 10,000 hands at 5/10. Here's my question: Shouldn't these people be playing 1/2?

[/ QUOTE ]
I'll try to actually answer the original question: Many people on twoplustwo are broke college students for whom 5/10 seems like high stakes gambling. It is not. Go to a casino and see how many people are happily playing blackjack for $25 a hand or more. For many adults who gamble recreationally, $1/2 is not fun or interesting. On a really good date you are going to win what? $100? People who play for fun want to play at a level where the money involved at least has some meaning to them.
